Menopausecare Frequently Asked Questions!

A middle-aged female patien talks to a female OBGYN. Both people are sitting, facing each other, and the medical provider is gesturing as she speaks.
  • Menopause occurs 12 months after a person’s last period. The time leading up to this point is referred to as the menopausal transition, or more commonly, perimenopause. Menopause is not a disease or disorder, but a normal part of aging.

  • Some people don’t have any trouble with menopausal symptoms and are relieved not to have to deal with painful periods or worrying about getting pregnant. For many, however, the menopausal transition leads to bothersome symptoms that can have a profound impact on multiple aspects of their lives.

  • Estrogen and other ovarian hormones are active at many different sites in the body; declining levels of these hormones during the menopause transition lead to a range of symptoms including hot flashes, difficulty sleeping, vaginal dryness, and depression or anxiety. Every person is unique in the kinds of symptoms and severity of symptoms they experience. We know, however, that symptoms last, on average, 9 years, and up to 15 years.

  • At Bridgercare, we believe that everyone deserves access to the care they need, no matter their income or insurance status. All of our services are on our sliding fee scale which means that how much you pay for our Menopausecare services is based on your income.
